Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.”
~ John F. Kennedy -
From this photography, I see peace, a total tranquility, and also a sense of loneliness. Sunset, red sky, like the world is burning in the ocean of flames. Empty beach, quiet waves, the silence is shrouding the world and the darkness is approaching, occupying the last bit of brightness.
Soon the world will be consumed by the night, the moon will be rising, the sun will be veiled by the stars, enchanting this indescribable beauty. When I first saw the picture, I considered it as a mediocre one which didn’t deserve my attention, but the more I gaze into it, the more I find it relatable to me, that insufferable sadness, that golden moment of peacefulness in a heart that is pumping constant anxiety to this body of mine. The picture also reminds me of death. You see, I sometimes see death as a solution, a solution to solve a temporary issue with a permanent way. You see, I do not fear death, but I fear its prologs, which are loneliness, decrepitude, pain, depression and most significantly, desperation and hopelessness. A beach can be filled with loneliness and pain, especially a beach that has suffered from harsh waves and dead sea creatures. When you walk on a beach like that, you can hear those animals that lost their lives on this beach screaming, the sound of helplessness lingers in your head, torturing you, changing you, into someone that you do not wish to become.
But by looking at this picture, I can't see death but calmness. I can't feel depression but only a fragment of sadness. I can't touch the suffering but the tender waves. I can't smell the rancidness of those that are dried on the beach but the soft salty taste of the ocean. The trees behind that beach are watching like guardians, they are silent, but vigilant, looking over, staring fixedly into the horizon, observing the sunset, embracing the moonlight, waiting for a new dawn, yearning for a new life.
Somehow, I also see freedom, the photography shows a limitless sky and the endless potentials. A beautiful, stunning, empty beach like this, you can do anything you want to bring out your highest expectation for life. Feel the wind, taste the saltiness, leave the stress behind and dance towards the sky, shout at the sea and grasp the beauty of silence. Isn't this what we all ask for? Nowadays, the world is filled with technological advancements, people are constantly looking at their devices and because of the pace of life is getting faster and faster, people have to bear and endure more and more works, deal with great stress and anxiety, they have less and less time and freedom to do what they wish to do, to achieve what they want to achieve, and to relax and enjoy the nature, not their phones.
After all these thoughts processing about this picture, I don’t find it mediocre anymore, and to me, this is a piece of art that provokes me to think, to feel, to imagine, to bring out my highest expectation.
